Dar Es Salaam Water Supply To Be Improved

Mr. Cyprian Luhemeja who has recently been appointed as the new Managing Director of Dar es Salaam Water and Sewerage Corporation (Dawasco) has announced his commitment to improve water supply in several parts of the city.
According to local media Luhemeja said in his first meeting with the
corporation's staff that he will ensure that the company comes up with new projects that would enable a number of taps to generate water unlike the dry ones prevailing now.
Luhemeja also mentioned that he will increase the minimum wage to TZS 650,000/- per month for all workers to motivate them to focus on serving their customers better as they were one of the key players in achieving the corporation's goals.
Mr. Luhemeja's joined Dawasco on May 1, 2015. He was previously Managing Director for Moshi Urban Water and Sanitation Authority (Muwsa).
Dawasco is a sole provider of water supply and sewerage Services in Dar es Salaam city and parts of coast region.
According to a report by the Institute of Resource Assessment, University of Dar Es Salaam the renewable water resources of Tanzania currently stand at 2,291 m3 per capita.
