CRDB scheme to boost women entrepreneurs

CRDB bank
CRDB bank has come up with the new scheme for women to access loans without collateral, after it became clear that the majority of them carry out businesses without security which could help them access loan facilities from the financial institutions.

This was revealed on Friday by the CRDB bank’s Principal Relationship Manager Rehema Shambwe at a breakfast meeting between Women entrepreneurs, Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), top management and CRDB Bank’s loan officers to discuss various issues relating to loan facilities.

“As Principal Manager I would like to take this opportunity to inform women across the country to make use of the introduced product,” she said.

“We have decided to introduce a new package for women entrepreneurs namely ‘Women Access to Finance Initiative’ after proving that women use loans for the intended business, repay on time to the banks compared to men and they operate business more effectively,” she noted.

She added that they have discovered that women can stimulate the national economy and bring sustainable development in their families.

A research carried out by loan officers across the country indicate that all men who run their business in collaboration with their wives, take loans and repay on time as well as operate their business more successfully.

According to her, once you empower women, you help the community to alleviate poverty, improve livelihoods and is the most effective strategy to ensure the well-being and health of children as well as the long-term success of developing economies.

Women entrepreneurs eager to acquire loan facilities through the new loan package, don’t need to have collateral. They are just required to open an account at CRBB Bank and right now the Bank has already prepared loan officers in all areas where they have branches to support women who will be ready to use the said package.

“As bank we have developed a new product that will provide soft loans to women entrepreneurs in all areas where we have branches and the majority of them can borrow more easily because we have loan officers who will guide them on how to get and use it,” she said.

She called on all women across the country to see CRDB loan officers who have been prepared for them so that they can benefit from the said product because they are available all over the country.
Participants were from Dar es Salaam, Mtwara and Coast regions.
